National Socialists are not the same as International Socialists

There are very few topics on the internet that evoke reactions as ignorant as they are emotional like trying to equate Nazis with socialists. In this case, in the comments to a blog post in which one of the resident trolls fired off:

Particularly weak to call them both Nazis and Communists. Not the same thing at all.

The response below was particularly good.

National Socialists are not the same as International Socialists. I mean, obviously not: one says “inter” and the other doesn’t. The underlying relationship of the leadership to the populace, the tactics used to gain compliance, the long-term strategy of world domination – nothing in common at all.

Very nice. NB, I have edited the response because it was originally written to avoid moderation; plus there was a misspelling.
