This and That

From the comments of this post at Althouse. The context is the two young men who set the bombs at the Boston Marathon:

“They were functioning members of society, and they functioned at a high level. They won athletic contests and got good grades. It’s scary that people like this are capable of such crimes.”

I remain haunted by the warning I heard more than 15 years ago by a colleague.

He warned that the belief that “we all want the same things” is false and dangerous .

I also saw quote this morning from Taranto via Instapundit

What the hope-they’re-white crowd really wishes for is a reason to treat their domestic political adversaries as enemies of the state.

Oh, yeah, and this, again from Instpundit:

As an influential legal mind has pointed out, nothing that middle-class white women do can ever be illegal.”
