I’ve always considered the Monty Python movie, Life of Brian, to be not only a hilarious movie in its own right, but also one of the truly great satires of socialism and socialists – this is even more amusing because it was never intended to be such.
Many people are now aware of LoB’s awesome powers of prediction with the I want to the be a woman clip.
But now, there’s a new one: Another ‘N word’-in-context incident costs a university employee her job.
Even more ironically, Assistant General Counsel Caitlin Sewell said the epithet as an example on “how the First Amendment can protect offensive language.”
According to the North Texas Daily, Sewell said “If I said something offensive … you know, you can say a lot of offensive things in here because it’s impossible to talk about the First Amendment without saying horrible things. Um, you know, ‘You’re just a dumb n—-r and I hate you.’ That alone, that’s protected speech.”
At the end of the discussion, Student Government Association President Yolian Ogbu told Sewell directly “I hope you can acknowledge that you’re a racist.”
This brought to mind the stoning scene portion of LoB (the video is long to set the context).
BTW, it’s been a long time since we had one of those “niggardly” controversies.
