Accomplishments of the Obama Era

Starting with Jim Geraghty’s article at The National Review. An awesome collection of all, most, many, well, a large number anyway, of things that have happened during Obama’s watch.

The story of the Obama era is the story of one colossal federal government train-wreck after another. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms shipped guns to Mexican drug cartels in Fast & Furious. Recovery.gov, allegedly designed to promote openness and accountability, ended up filled with bad data.

The stimulus “was riddled with a massive labor scheme that harmed workers and cheated unsuspecting American taxpayers.”

The president stood in front of the White House, urging the American public to use Healthcare.gov when it wasn’t working.
The U.S. Secret Service, which began the Obama presidency by allowing the Salahis into the White House and stumbled through one humiliating scandal of unprofessional behavior after another.

The Obama administration toppled the government of Libya – without any supporting act of Congress — then sent Americans there and ignored the security requests from our ambassador.

The NSA hired Ed Snowden and gave him the keys to the kingdom after a month.

Veterans died, waiting for care, while the branch offices of the VA assure Washington everything is fine.

We traded terrorists for a prisoner, sealing the deal with an assurance to the public that Bowe Bergdahl “served with honor and distinction.”

The IRS data breach. The postal service data breach. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration hack. The data breach at federal contractor US Investigations Services, which performs background checks on DHS, ICE and border patrol units.

And now, the epic OPM hack.

The linked to quote above includes many links itself if you follow it. Ace also has a nice line and references Allahpundit at Hot Air who has his own unique take:

Who knows what other scandals are known to higher-ups at OPM, or what sort of security breaches they could orchestrate if they got fired and felt disgruntled? Make enemies of them and there’s no shortage of reporters in print media, TV media, or online who’ll be happy to listen to them spill whatever they have. Unaccountability, in other words, is the price of damage control.

There are, in fact, more links in the two linked articles above and they have links too.

The point of this post is the list of complete, utter, screw-ups in the Obama reign administration for those who’ve forgotten or more likely never know. And that list doesn’t even include all the racial healing we’ve experienced.

Update (20150617): Right before he goes on vacation, Geraghty fires off this:

Picture the day, not too long from now — say, mid-2016 — when hackers target the Social Security Administration. They do more than the recent hack that compromised the Social Security numbers of every federal employee and quite a few retired federal employees. This time, they mess around with the system sufficiently to disrupt Social Security checks being sent out to elderly Americans. Maybe not all Americans, maybe just a fraction — of course, a “small fraction” of the 59 million collecting Social Security is a lot of people. One month, for tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or millions, the checks don’t go out the door, or they go to the wrong address, or the wrong amount is sent.

An NR commenter calls our current system of government an “ineptocracy.”

Indeed. In-effing-deed.
