The main reason for this blog is to remember things that I would otherwise let slip and then have to find again. This search is made more difficult by the fact that I often time don’t remember where it was that I originally acquired the info. And so, again, with this topic. It was days ago that I read comments about how the MSM’s front pages eagerly reported the shootings in Waco, but that nothing or little was mentioned about the shootings in a “normal weekend” in Chicago. A normal weekend in which far more people were shot even tho’ the death count was less.
So, all of a sudden, I remembered that I wanted to note this inconsistency and, lo and behold, the search engines can’t find anything from the sites I normally visit. But I did find this, a very nice looking site with a very nice name. I appreciate the help and quote a bit (links at site):
I guess we have reached a point where we expect weekends to be a problem. 2 dead, 47 wounded in Chicago weekend gun violence | abc7chicago.com
Then, just Monday night through Tuesday… At least 9 injured in city shootings – Chicago Tribune.
And then there are the Wednesday totals. 1 man dead, 6 injured in area shootings – Chicago Tribune.
Update (20150526): Geez, and here I thought black lives mattered:
[In] Baltimore [... e]ven after the initial wave of riots receded, violence across the district has been on the rise. That trend hit a new high water mark over the holiday weekend leaving a horrific death toll in its wake.
Police say 28 people were shot, 9 of them killed over this weekend, adding to the record-breaking violence.
Twelve people were killed and more than 40 more were wounded in shootings in Chicago during the Memorial Day long weekend.
Since April 12, the day Freddie Gray was arrested, 51 people have been killed in Baltimore, 47 of whom have been black and none of whom died at the hands of a police officer.
An Update and an Explanation (20150603): Elizabeth Price Foley explains:
To be fair, it’s not like the progressive/liberal activists and politicians said that black lives matter all the time[my emphasis]. It only matters for the purpose of mainstream media sensationalism, flaming racial hatred/looting for the cameras, and scoring quick political points. It makes cool-looking t-shirts, signs and an awesome hashtag!
