Driscoll collect (still) more examples of left-wing governance and commentary thereof, but this gem (from Dinesh D’Souza) was buried towards the bottom:
Isn’t a looter a poor-man’s progressive, doing in a rough and small-scale way what progressives like Obama do smoothly and systematically?
There is a lead-off link in the above to an article by Kevin W, well worth the time… One of the comments there mentioned a quote from the Old Man of the Republic, B Franklin (haven’t yet verified it), well worth remembering:
Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters
Sounds pretty much like that old French saying, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
And still more… another comment from the KW article:
To progressives, the point of trying to remedy income inequality is not to actually achieve anything, but rather to perpetually engage in the process. Income inequality, like global warming and other intractable liberal causes, is deliberately styled in a way that there can never be an actual outcome. It is all about process and inputs. The mechanism for addressing all of these liberal causes is always the same: more government and massing political power in the hands of liberal elites. The “struggle” is always perpetual.
