Bongo’s Harvest Addition of Beer of the Month

For many beer lovers October leads to a desire for heavier  lagers such as marzen, aka oktoberfest, beers.  Not me however.  While I appreaciate all styles oktoberfest is one that is least satisfying , imho.

Having been at this hobby for 10+ years I’m slowly moving away from the primary pleasure of seeking the new, and starting to slow down enough to go back to the best of past that I’ve already tried.  In the fall that leads me to one of the best seasonals of the upper midwest – Capital Brewery Autumnal Fire.  The Middleton, Wisconsin brewery is well know and established as a premium lager brewer.

While every year is a fun, the 2009 is a particular joy.  This  years has a nutty taste that at times holds a unique sweetness.  It reminds me of  the sugar or toffee coated nuts at the Christmas holidays.  mmmmm
